John Birkett

Since leaving home and coming to Newmarket at just 15, John has had a variety of jobs in racing most notably as head lad for the late Dave Thom for 10 years. Since then he was manager at Royal Mail for a further 25 years until coming back into the sport to help wife Julia Feilden run the yard and he set up Hoofbeats which he now runs in conjuction with head lad duties at the yard.                                                                                                              

Tony Turner

Tony has been passionate about racing all his life whilst working in the newspaper printing industry, as well as working as a Tote operator. He has been in Newmarket around 30 years and is now able to spend his free time sharing his knowledge of the racing industry with the tours.

Malcolm Roper

 Malcolm has only recently worked as a tour guide for Hoofbeats, but is well experienced working at the National Stud as a tour guide as well as riding as an amateur jockey for some time, he has an extensive knowledge of the area.
